It’s no secret that wearing glasses can be an exciting part of any fashion-forward ensemble. There are so many different frames and colors to choose from these days, glasses become a part of your wardrobe, rather than being an accessory that struggles to fit in.
The goal is to create a seamless look, so your glasses are an extension of you. Choosing awesome frames helps, but it’s not the end of the story. Wearing makeup with glasses can be a challenge for some women, but it doesn’t have to be.
Here are five easy makeup tips that will help create the look you want, with your glasses taking center stage.
1 – Blot away any excess foundation.
A little extra foundation might not be a big deal for a non-glasses wearer, but you can run into problems on your cheeks or the bridge of your nose if you do wear glasses. You don’t want foundation to come off on your glasses, so it’s wise to give some attention to the spots where your glasses rest on your face.
Dampen a beauty blender and dab over those areas that your glasses sit on, like the tops of your cheeks and bridge of your nose. Be gentle and it won’t remove what you’ve already applied. It will just remove any excess, so there won’t be any foundation sticking to your glasses if you decide to remove them.
2. Don’t clash colors with your frames.
Applying eyeliner is an art form. Depending on how you choose to apply your eyeliner, you can go from a “day look” to a dramatic “night time” look in seconds. What happens when your eyeliner and frames clash? When you’re deciding on what color to use for your liner, make sure it complements the frames and doesn’t compete with them. As is true with all makeup, you want what you do to enhance your look, not make it look haphazard.
3. Use primer and setting spray to reduce red marks on your nose.
If you find yourself with red marks on your nose after wearing glasses, a simple little trick can make those red marks a thing of the past. A little big of foundation primer and foundation can do the trick. When you’re done, if you want an added layer of protection, a setting spray (with a focus on the nose) can help ensure your glasses won’t leave a trace that they were ever there.
4. Try an eyelash curler.
Anyone who wears makeup knows a good eyelash curler is paramount if you want lashes that stand out. There are no two ways about it. The same goes for girls who wear glasses. In fact, it might even be more important. Curling your lashes before you apply mascara and subsequently, your glasses, means that you lower your chance of rubbing off half the mascara you just put on. Your lashes will look amazing and not run the risk of mascara rubbing off because they are touching your glasses.
5. Get creative with your mascara.
Your eyelash curling efforts may end up being in vain if you don’t follow this useful mascara tip. For the first coat, apply it from root to tip like normal, but after that, stick to the roots and stay away from the tips. Heavy tips will cause your lashes to brush against the lenses, ruining the effect.
